The Vonovia Ruhrstadion, which is owned by the city of Bochum, is located around one kilometre east of downtown Bochum and serves as the home ground for VFL Bochum. The stadium's significance in terms of sporting history and its representative location on an important city axis in Bochum make the stadium an important place of identification in the urban fabric. However, due to the building structure, some of which is over 40 years old, and the outdated building technology, there are considerable restrictions in the stadium and event operations.
In terms of an inventory-oriented analysis and structural optimisation of the Vonovia Ruhrstadion, PROPROJEKT was commissioned with the planning office AS+P Albert Speer + Partner GmbH and the engineering company Canzler GmbH to develop a technical due diligence and a renovation concept. PROPROJEKT validated the expected construction costs of the renovation concept calculated by AS+P and Canzler. Further, a construction cost forecast and indexing with different scenarios was elaborated.
