Sus­tain­ab­il­ity concept UEFA EURO 2024 — Host City Berlin

The UEFA EURO 2024 will take place in Ger­many. One of ten host cities is Berlin, which aims to use major sport­ing events such as the UEFA EURO 2024 beyond host­ing the event to gen­er­ate last­ing pos­it­ive effects for the coun­try and the city.

Already during the bid­ding pro­cess for the tour­na­ment, the German Foot­ball Asso­ci­ation (Deutscher Fußball-Bund), in cooper­a­tion with PRO­PRO­JEKT, has estab­lished a sus­tain­ab­il­ity concept into which Berlin con­trib­uted its ideas. On this basis, a sus­tain­ab­il­ity pro­gram was developed for the UEFA EURO 2024 in Berlin, which includes all three pil­lars of sus­tain­ab­il­ity.

PRO­PRO­JEKT sup­por­ted the Berlin Senate for the Interior, Digit­al­iz­a­tion and Sport in form­ing a mis­sion state­ment for the sus­tain­ab­il­ity pro­gram. In this con­text, PRO­PRO­JEKT was respons­ible for con­cep­tu­al­iz­ing and mod­er­at­ing the par­ti­cip­a­tion pro­cess and cre­ated the final mis­sion state­ment. Under the slogan "EURO 2024 will be our game," this mis­sion state­ment is the basis for plan­ning a wide range of meas­ures.

Two years before the UEFA EURO 2024, the Senate Depart­ment for the Interior, Digit­al­iz­a­tion and Sport has now pub­lished the "Mis­sion State­ment of Sus­tain­ab­il­ity for UEFA EURO 2024" for Berlin in an offi­cial press release.
