The football associations of England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales have decided to submit a joint bid to host the UEFA EURO 2028. The third largest sporting event in the world shall be held under the motto 'Football for all. Football for good. Football for the future.' in the five nations.
The stadium concept envisages a distribution of one stadium each in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales and six stadiums in England, including the Wembley Stadium. For the selection of the other five English venues, PROPROJEKT was commissioned together with The Sports Consultancy to develop and support the selection process and to monitor the completeness and quality of the bid content of all Candidate Cities.
Furthermore, PROPROJEKT was commissioned to develop the sustainability concept for the bid dossier. Starting with the development of a sustainability framework to define the vision and the strategic direction on sustainability together with all involved Football Associations and Government Partners, this included the elaboration of a good governance, an environment and a human rights plan for the UEFA EURO 2028 in the UK & Ireland. The comprehensive sustainability concept of more than 100 pages not only complies with international standards and UEFA requirements but marks the state-of-the-art for a sustainable tournament organisation with sustainability integrated as a cross-cutting topic.
