ALBA BERLIN, one of Germany’s most successful and largest basketball clubs in terms of membership, is pursuing a vision to establish its own sports, recreation and training campus in Berlin in the medium term. This initiative is driven by strategic considerations aimed at consolidating the club’s various facilities and training venues – which are currently spread across the city – into a single central location. The aim is to create optimal conditions for elite, youth and grassroots sport through efficient structures, whilst at the same time further developing the successful ‘ALBA macht Schule’ educational programme in the form of an integrated sports and education campus.
A key component of this “Future Campus" is the desire for a dedicated professional venue. A modern, state-of-the-art multi-purpose arena is intended not only to open up new sporting horizons for ALBA BERLIN, but also to tap into additional economic and social potential. With this project, the club is underlining its ambition to position itself as a flagship project within the dynamic European basketball landscape – particularly against the backdrop of potential new international competition formats, in the development of which leading global players are involved.
To conduct a comprehensive assessment of the economic, functional and technical conditions, PROPROJEKT was commissioned, in collaboration with CSIGHT GmbH, to carry out a feasibility study for the planned “Future Campus” with a multi-purpose arena. As part of the feasibility study, the suitability of the site for the project was assessed and, following an initial positive evaluation, more detailed investigations are now underway to build on this. These will be pursued vigorously over the coming months to further flesh out the development and thus create a strong foundation for the next project steps. We are delighted to support ALBA BERLIN in process management along this path.
