Since their promotion in 2020, the Niners Chemnitz have become a sporting flagship for the city. However, the Chemnitz Arena, their home since 2019/20, presents a complex field of tension between sporting ambitions and multifunctional use.
The aim of this feasibility study is to examine the construction of a modern multifunctional hall in the city center, which should be much more than just a sports venue. The planned infrastructure should act as a cultural catalyst and create innovative event formats as well as meeting spaces for the identification of all parts of urban society. The study not only evaluates the urban planning and infrastructural framework conditions, but also examines the economic, functional and cultural potential of a multifunctional hall at this location. The basic analysis examines the requirements of potential user groups and assesses the suitability of the location. The technical feasibility includes rough architectural preliminary planning and an initial assessment of infrastructural feasibility.
Under the leadership of AS+P, PROPROJEKT was commissioned with the stakeholder management, the determination of the investment costs based on a functional plan created by AS+P, as well as the development of models for a structural implementation.
