The National Urban Development Policy (Nationale Stadtentwicklungspolitik) initiative was launched in May 2007. In the form of the National Urban Development Policy, the contents and goals of the LEIPZIG CHARTER on the sustainable European city are being given a strong footing at the national level in collaboration with the federal states and the municipalities.
The National Urban Development Policy’s objectives and programmes are continuously discussed with representatives of the political and business worlds, public authorities, universities and civil society, and then recalibrated accordingly. The annual Federal Congress serves as a platform for interaction between the various parties actively interested in urban issues (Berlin 2007, Munich 2008, Essen 2009, Nuremberg 2010, Kassel 2011, Berlin 2012, Mannheim/Ludwigshafen 2013, Essen 2014, Leipzig 2015, Hannover 2016, Hamburg 2017, Frankfurt/Main 2018). Further information on the pilot projects is available from the National Urban Development Policy website: www.nationale-stadtentwicklungspolitik.de
In collaboration with the Kaufmann Office, PROPROJEKT was commissioned as project manager for the initiative. PROPROJEKT co-ordinates the different entities and persons involved, and conducts the preparation, implementation and documentation of the National Urban Development Policy events.
