The topping-out of the redevelopment of Frankfurt’s historic city centre was celebrated with a ceremony act on 15th of October 2016. In addition to the speeches of Mayor Peter Feldmann, head of planning department Mike Josef and the managing director of DomRömer GmbH, Michael Guntersdorf, Francesco Colotti, representative of the architects, also thanked all planners, craftsmen, political bodies and other project participants for the enormous work performance of the past years.
In the afternoon, the construction site was opened to the public for the first time since the dismantling of the Technical Town Hall on the occasion of guided tours across the Krönungsweg, where once the newly crowned emperors moved from the Dom (the cathedral) to the Römer (the historic Town Hall).
Until the planned opening in 2018, a lively city quarter with a mix of apartments, shops, restaurants and cafés will be built in the heart of the city of Frankfurt.
