Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World Uni­ver­sity Games

The Exec­ut­ive Com­mit­tee of the Inter­na­tional Uni­ver­sity Sports Fed­er­a­tion (FISU) attrib­uted on Sat­urday (15 May 2021) in Düs­sel­dorf the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World Uni­ver­sity Games to the fed­eral state of North Rhine-West­phalia.

PRO­PRO­JEKT Planungs­man­age­ment & Pro­jekt­ber­a­tung GmbH together with AS+P Albert Speer und Part­ner GmbH were respons­ible for the can­did­ature devel­op­ment of the second largest multi-sports event after the Olympic and Para­lympic Games.

With the pro­fes­sional sup­port of PRO­PRO­JEKT and AS+P, the German Uni­ver­sity Sports Fed­er­a­tion (adh) has developed the can­did­ature con­cepts in the past two years in close cooper­a­tion with the Fed­eral Min­istry of the Interior, Build­ing and Com­munity, the State Chan­cellery of North Rhine-West­phalia, FISU as well as the cities of Bochum, Duis­burg, Düs­sel­dorf, Essen and Mül­heim an der Ruhr, adh part­ner uni­ver­sit­ies and fur­ther part­ners from sports and aca­demic organ­iz­a­tions.

In July 2025 North Rhine-West­phalia with the Rhine-Ruhr region will be host of around 10,000 ath­letes from 170 coun­tries. At the 2025 Rhine-Ruhr FISU World Uni­ver­sity Games, ath­letes will com­pete at 12 days in 18 dif­fer­ent sports. The planes fore­see com­pet­i­tions in Bochum, Duis­burg, Düs­sel­dorf, Essen and Mül­heim an der Ruhr. Besides high-per­form­ance sports, the concept has set a strong focus on sci­ence and edu­ca­tion, legacy, sus­tain­ab­il­ity and innov­a­tion as well as the inter­cul­tural exchange.
