Olympic Games Bid Ham­burg 2024

On 21st March 2015, the mem­bers of the German Olympic Sports Con­fed­er­a­tion (DOSB) unan­im­ously voted for the Free and Hanseatic City of Ham­burg to become the German Bid City in the race for the Olympic and Para­lympic Games 2024. Ham­burg there­with entered the inter­na­tional com­pet­i­tion for the biggest multi-sport event on earth. Olympic and Para­lympic Games set the stage for ever­last­ing moments for thou­sands of ath­letes and sports fans, provid­ing the host with the great oppor­tun­ity to present its city to mil­lions of vis­it­ors and bil­lions of TV view­ers. They are how­ever extremely demand­ing in terms of venue plan­ning and trans­port infra­struc­ture.

The Free and Hanseatic City of Ham­burg developed an emo­tion­ally inspir­ing, yet eco­nom­ic­ally mod­er­ate bid concept focused on the long-term legacy for the city, the coun­try and sports.

Unfor­tu­nately, on Novem­ber 29^th a major­ity of Ham­burgs cit­izens eli­gible to vote voted against the planned bid.

PRO­PRO­JEKT together with AS+P was assigned as Con­sor­tium Ham­burg 2024 – PRO­PRO­JEKT / AS+P with the plan­ning, coordin­a­tion and pro­duc­tion of all bid doc­u­ments related to the award­ing of the Olympic and Para­lympic Games 2024. The con­sor­tium was respons­ible for the coordin­a­tion and qual­ity assur­ance of the over­all tech­nical bid pro­cess that star­ted in May 2015. This not only con­tained the devel­op­ment of an integ­rated master plan for Ham­burg 2024 based on the already exist­ing concept but also the pre­par­a­tion for the Can­did­ature Files required by the IOC.
