Special Olympics World Summer Games Berlin 2023
Sportmetropole Berlin and Special Olympics Germany (SOD) are bidding to host the Special Olympics World Games 2023, the largest inclusive sports event in the world. The event, which is alternately staged in summer and winter, is the flagship of the Special Olympics Movement that stands for Equality, Tolerance and Acceptance for People with Intellectual Disabilities around the world. The Special Olympics World Summer Games are characterized by nine days of captivating and inspiring competitions between around 7,000 athletes from around 170 nations, where the sports activity of people with intellectual disabilities and unified of people with and without disabilities is the focus of attention.
PROPROJEKT was commissioned by the state of Berlin to compile the Bid Book for the World Games. Together with AS+P, PROPROJEKT is amongst others responsible for the development of the overall concept. The Bid Book will be submitted on 15.07.2018. On November 12/13, 2018, the board of the international association Special Olympics International (SOI) in Washington will name the host of the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2023.
